What is Clipits Designs? CLIP + IPIT + S = CLIPITS,plural and one word, is a redundancy of the words CLIP (English) and IPIT (Filipino) which both mean 'to clip' (verb) or/and 'clip', the hardware (noun) plus 'S'.
Clipits Designs is a small home-based business for handmade accessories and jewelry For Her and For Little Her. Textile is the main material being use for its handmade pieces. Felt, Chiffon, Poly-satin are among the fabric that are prevalent in each creation.
I started making Clipits just shortly after my daughter turned two in 2010. A friend, also neighbor inspired me to focus on my creativity.I came to the United States, ten years ago, to expand my culinary experience. I was particularly interested in pastries and cake decorating. I was placed to train in the kitchen as a Pantry Chef. I really was hoping for Pastry Chef. It was indeed Pantry not Pastry. Even more disappointed to find out that most of the desserts served were frozen. I was ready to learn amazing techniques from the experts. But that didn't make me give up. During my internship, I met my husband who was also taking Hotel & Restaurant Management at that time. We shared the same passion...Food. We got married. Took cake decorating classes and the creativity just kept flowing.Today, my love for decorating is applied to making accessories. My favorite material is textile. When I'm in the process of making Clipits, I imagine of working with fondant (rolled icing that has a similar texture to that of a clay) when I put fabric petals together. I'm always in the creative mood. But, when my hands aren't in the creative process I like to listen to music, read, have a cup of coffee and watch my favorite sitcoms. I also enjoy watching sports, specially basketball. Here are two of my favorite quotes:Surround Yourself With Love. Mommy and Baby Tree- represents me and my daughter. Why 'trees' you asked? I chose trees because to me they symbolized life and nourishment. Side by side we grow together through our day-to-day activities. Motherhood is beautiful in itself including the challenges it brings. As grown ups we have the tendency of knowing it all. But, the truth is, our children are there to teach us and guide us as well.
